The City of Penticton is looking to fill the position of Senior Systems Analyst in ourInformation Technology/Geographic Information Systems (IT/GIS)team. The IT/GIS Department manages the City's technology hardware and software infrastructure, enabling departments to deliver timely, efficient services to residents and customers. This department provides IT services and support to more than 400 users in City departments and affiliated organizations, including Spectra Venue Management, Okanagan Hockey Group, Penticton Vees, Interior Health Authority, RCMP and Tourism Penticton. These users are spread across 16 buildings and connected through a City-owned fibre optic network. Reporting to the IT Supervisor, Security & Operations, the Senior Systems Analyst plays a pivotal role in maintaining and optimizing our IT infrastructure. This role involves strategic planning, design, installation, configuration, maintenance, and optimization of server hardware, software, and storage systems. Your expertise will ensure the highest levels of availability and performance of our IT services, contributing significantly to our operational efficiency and technological advancement. Key Duties & Responsibilities: * Install, configure, and maintain server, virtualization, and hyperconverged infrastructure hardware and software. Manage backups, ensure system security, and address service desk tasks related to infrastructure incidents and service requests. * Collaborate with IT leadership to design optimal server and virtualization topologies, aid in business continuity and disaster recovery planning, and maintain accurate documentation for infrastructure systems. * Support the development and implementation of server, virtualization, and hyperconverged infrastructure projects. * Conduct research and evaluate new technologies to enhance our IT capabilities. Required Knowledge, Abilities & Skills: * Expert technical knowledge of contemporary server, virtualization, and hyperconverged infrastructure hardware, standards, and protocols. * Extensive troubleshooting experience with a minimum of 10 years in the field. * Strong understanding of data privacy practices and laws in Canada. * Excellent written and oral communication skills, with the ability to present ideas in user-friendly language. Education, Training & Experience: * College diploma, university degree, or relevant certifications in IT, server management, virtualization, or hyperconverged infrastructures. * Over 10 years of equivalent work experience in server and virtualization environments. * ITIL certification with a solid understanding of change management.
