Provide all the components of nursing care expected of an RN including ‘hands on’ care when required. 2.Exhibit strong leadership skills and strive to resolve conflict situations with families/staff in a positive, cooperative manner, reporting family concerns immediately. Sound judgment and decisiveness is used consistently when addressing problems. 3. Monitor staffing levels and respond to staffing needs including the responsible and cost effective use of supplies and equipment. 4. Participate in development and adjustment of resident care assignments based on residents’ needs and monitor the competence of unregulated staff assigned to carry out the care. 5. Report and address safety hazards in a timely manner including participating in effective management of staff injury and disability. 6. Supervise and support staff, giving immediate feedback and regular coaching to improve performance. Facilitate the continuing education of staff by coordinating their attendance in training. 7. Work as an advocate negotiating for resident care and services by reporting needs and requests. Organize referrals to external health providers and consult with internal interdisciplinary team members and committees. 8. Participate in admission/discharge process and care conferences. 9. Manage and deliver medication according to GSS medication processes and procedures 10. Promote a safe and homelike environment that nurtures independence and individuality 11. Participate in the measurement and improvement of site performance through quarterly indicators and quality improvement plans. Provide feedback and suggestions on the development/revision of policies. 12. Identify and respond immediately to risk management issues. 13. Document in a concise and accurate manner to meets organizational, legislative and legal requirements. 14. Complete appropriate documentation according to established standards. 15. Complete assessments of residents and develop care plans using GSS documents and technology. Communicate changes in resident condition and care to appropriate decision makers and team members. 16. Communicate with team members to resolve unit issues, communicate changes, and solicit feedback from staff. Facilitate change by acting as a positive role model to all staff. 17. Manage specialized duties and work cooperatively with team members to provide excellent resident care by demonstrating an ability to be flexible and balance the shifting priorities of the unit. 18. Maintain a high standard of cleanliness, keeping the work environment consistently tidy 19. Adhere to all infection control practices and procedures 20. Pursue continual learning by participating in educational opportunities, in-services and/or training programs 21. Ensure an environment and resources which nurture spirituality 22. Maintain confidentiality on issues related to residents, employee matters and GSS information 23.
